OnTheHub is great and gets 5 stars. Regarding Parallels, I agree with the other reviewers who are very disappointed that Parallels is forcing updates every year (i.e. when Mac OS updates).. I have decided to no longer use it and to enter use Oracle's Virtualbox or try out Vmware.

I'm in the same boat and have decided a yearly subscription for the same price as a once personally owed educational license was the final straw for me. I'm now going back to VMWare Fusion. I've been a long time purchaser of Parallels, but no longer.

This was an excellent software that with version 14 removed the option for one-time purchase in favor of a full-price annual renewal. No thanks. Partition and reboot for free.

When TimeMachine failed to restore my Parallels, I thought it would be no problem, and that I would just buy another copy at the educator's discount, but that's not possible. Suddenly they're gouging us with an annual rental for the same price. It's not worth it. Parallels has lost a customer, and I'll no longer recommend it to my friends and colleagues.

I've been upgrading Parallels Desktop for years using onthehub for the educational discount. While I love the new features in v.14, I'm SUPER annoyed to find out that the purchase was only for a 1-year subscription. I should have read the description more carefully, but I assumed I was buying the program forever, like when I bought versions 12 and 13 for the same price ($39.99). It comes with Parallels Toolbox and Access, which is new and can only be used through a subscription no matter where you buy it, but the main software purchase should be permanent.

Parallels is a great way to run Windows only apps on a Mac. Awesome that you can get Windows from OnTheHub for free too.
